If electoral college seats Biden, Trump says he will leave White House
President Donald Trump made the closest thing to a concession yet during a press call with reporters on Thursday, as he replied to a reporter’s question asking: ‘if the Electoral College declares Joe Biden the winner, will [you] leave the White House on January 20?’ The Hill reported.
“Certainly I will,” Trump replied.”And you know that.”
“If they do, they made a mistake,” Trump added. “It’s going to be a very hard thing to concede.”
Biden calls for unity: We’re at war with the virus, not each other
During a speech prior aimed at the Thanksgiving holiday, apparent President-elect Joe Biden called for unity, BBC reported.
“I believe you always deserve to hear the truth from your president,” Biden said. “We have to slow the growth of this virus. We owe it to the doctors and the nurses and the frontline workers… We owe it to our fellow citizens.”
“It’s divided us, angered us, set us against one another,” Biden continued. “I know the country’s grown weary of the fight, but we need to remember – we’re at war with the virus, not one another.”
“We have to steel our spines, redouble our efforts and recommit ourselves to the fight.” Biden added. “I know that we can and will beat this virus. Life is going to return to normal, I promise you. I believe this grim season of division…is going to give way to a year of light and unity.”
Biden to announce more cabinet nominees, says “America is back”
As the transition to a Biden administration is underway, the president-elect will be given access to the daily presidential briefings and is expected to name the announcement of additional cabinet nominees next week, NPR reports in a podcast.
Last week, the former vice president made comments from his home theater in Wilmington, Delaware, contrasting President Donald Trump’s “America first” policies that shifted the country away from global partners, declaring that “America is back,” Wave3 reported.
Biden also introduced his national security team.
“Together, these public servants will restore America globally, its global leadership and its moral leadership,” Biden said. “It’s a team that reflects the fact that America is back, ready to lead the world, not retreat from it.”
